Royden Hindle

Arbitrator, Construction Adjudicator

LLB (Hons) (Canterbury, 1982)
LLM (Cambridge, 1985)
FAMINZ (Arb) (2002)

I practice as an Arbitrator and Construction Adjudicator, based at Bankside Chambers in Auckland.

I have 40 years’ practice experience as a litigation partner in a major law firm, barrister, Tribunal Chair, mediator, arbitrator, amicus curiae, counsel assisting, adjudicator and teacher.

From 2002 to 2011 I was Chair of the Human Rights Review Tribunal (the Tribunal has power amongst other things to declare primary legislation to be inconsistent with the anti-discrimination rights in the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act 1990).

Over the years I have been involved in cases covering a wide range of topics and industries, including:

Royden Hindle in his office at Bankside Chambers.

In 2021 I was made an Honorary Life Member of the Arbitrators’ and Mediators’ Institute of New Zealand (AMINZ).

Due to pressure of my determinative and adjudication work, I have discontinued my practice as a mediator for the present.
